What to do behind the plate?
Even though the Yankees have had Jorge Posada the past month, he really hasn’t been anything more than a name in the lineup. Sometimes that’s just enough to make a pitcher pitch around him, but the reality is, Posada wasn’t hitting-at least for power. More importantly, Posada couldn’t make the throws down to second. Putting him on the DL was the only logical descision Girardi and Cashman could make.
This leaves another hole for the Yankees to plug, and Jose Molina will be called upon again. I think it’s fair to say Molina has to be included in the discussion for Yankee team MVP. Where would they be without him? Odd to utter that statement about a .218 hitter, but truth be told, his arm has saved the Yankees bacon on more than one occasion this year.
I don’t see the Yankees making any deals for a catcher before the deadline, most decent catchers won’t be available. Molina has been superb this year, and Chad Moeller will probably catch a game or two a week.
What do you think the Yanks should do?
